Program Donations & Non Profit Status Information

Please consider supporting the work we do, so we can continue to expand and grow. We are a 501(c) 3 non profit, contributions are tax-deductible. Dona Ana Arts Council is our fiscal agent.
Please make checks payable to "DAAC FBO Artist Inside"

This program continues to be primarily funded by the program volunteers. At this time we are in need of several items (please see the list below). We need donations so we can continue the work we do and expand into other facilities.

We also would appreciate volunteer help from grant writers and artists.

ERC: Creating Spaces for Agency for Incarcerated Youth through Art 2007







The French Award
For their proposal to introduce art curriculum at Aztec High School of the John Paul Taylor Correctional Facility, Sara Flores, an instructor of women's studies at New Mexico State University, and Heather Oesterreich, an assistant professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at NMSU, were announced as the winners of the 2006 French Annual Improvement of Secondary Teaching Award.

This award is the most prestigious external award given by NMSU’s College of Education.

Flores and Oesterreich were honored at the Fourteenth Annual Scholarship and Awards Ceremony held in Spring 2007. They gave a brief presentation on the success to date and future plans of the project.

Becoming a Program Volunteer

Volunteering: If you are interested in becoming a volunteer with our program please contact the program director Sara Flores. We are looking for people with Art, Music and Theater backgrounds who share our philosophy.

Ticket Donations:

The young men at the J. Paul Taylor Detention Center in Las Cruces greatly appreciate and benefit from attending area art, music and theater events. If you or your organization are able to donate tickets for local events please contact the program director, Sara Flores at 575-525-2333

Library:

We would like to start a reference & lending library for our students and volunteers. We are looking for donations of books & materials related to Art, Music, Theater & Photography.

Artist Inside Supplies Wish List:

Following is a list of supplies that we are curently in need of. If you or your organization is able to donate any of these supplies we would greatly appreciate it.

We always use high quality artist grade brand as we believe it is important that our students understand that they and their work is worthy of quality artist materials.



Pads of artist paper:

(various sizes from 11 x 14 to 20 x 24 – various kinds (sketch, charcoal, pastel, and watercolor), we always need lots of these – we go through a lot of artist paper).

Drawing pencils especially HB and charcoal pencils

Erasers (art gum or the white ones -  drawing)
