Thank you for visiting our website. We are a grass roots, non profit, arts organization. We are a group of volunteer educators who bring the arts & arts education into "correctional" facilities throughout New Mexico.
Program Philosophy
The Artist Inside Program offers visual arts, photography, music & theater education. By offering arts education to people in the criminal justice system we are offering a sense of connection, community, contribution and communication, which are all a necessary part of being human. By creating or performing something beautiful incarcerated artist, musicians & actors can (re)gain a sense of pride in knowing that they are capable of doing something that is highly valued by society. Our overarching goal is one of critical self-evaluation and reconstruction. We recognize that art, music & theater education can lead to transformation & endless possibilities.
